Spotlight May 2025

The Sensory Garden

Spring is the season of taking stock of the old to prepare for the new season. The other week, we were blessed with a visit from a local caravanner who, while enjoying a meal in the garden, decided to do a complete overview of the sensory garden as she could see it was time to prepare it for Spring! Now we have space for the old to thrive and for new plants to be planted to enhance what was there before. Thank you, Danielle!

Weekly Events

As we step into May, we are also taking stock of the Cross Keys rhythms as a whole. The Cross Keys will now be open Tuesdays 10 am - 2 pm and Wednesdays to Saturdays 10 am – 4 pm! Open Mic is now on the FIRST Friday of the month @ 8 pm (FREE) and preceded by drumming in the yurt with Jacqueline Champion 6:45 to 7:45 (£10) On Sunday 4th May from 3 pm onwards the fantastic Folk Band Beltane will be doing a ‘Gig in the Garden’ so please come and enjoy! Beltane are an acoustic-driven Americana and Easy Listening three-piece band hailing from Scotland, Wales and England. This is what they have to say about themselves. ‘We’re quite often asked ‘What does Beltane mean?’ It’s a happy coincidence that our main man and inspiration in the group is known as Bell, but the name Beltane is actually a Gaelic May Day festival and an ancient Celtic celebration marking the beginning of summer. So how appropriate it is that we’re playing over the Sunday May Day Bank Holiday at The Cross Keys, Llanfyllin. Sunday afternoon, 4th May.’ Check out their Facebook page.

Friday Festival

It’s been a lovely month of celebration for many of The Cross Keys friends – Ffion Wright enjoying her 4th birthday, Beth and Ian affirming their love for each other by marrying in Scotland and Hayley, our Mum who facilitates the Messy Play and Crafts for our Friday toddler group, leaving with her son Tom, to prepare for the birth of her daughter. We at The Cross Keys also celebrated Easter through sharing stories, sharing food and sharing journeys - using this time in the Christian calendar to reflect on our lives and prepare again to deepen relationships with God and each other, as we step into a new season
